What does the PAH Equine Center Health & Travel Certificate service include?

  • Health Examination
  • Coggins Test
  • Travel Certificates (CVI)
  • Travel Advice (if requested)

Comprehensive Health Examinations

Before issuing a travel certificate, we conduct a thorough health examination to assess your horse’s overall well-being. This includes checking vital signs, evaluating body condition, and screening for any signs of illness or injury. Our veterinarians are experienced in identifying even subtle issues that could impact your horse’s ability to travel safely.

Coggins Test

A Coggins test is required for most interstate travel and public events. This blood test screens for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA), a serious viral disease. At PAH Equine Center, we provide fast and accurate Coggins testing, ensuring you have the necessary documentation for your horse’s travel needs.

Travel Certificates (CVI)

A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI), commonly known as a health certificate, is mandatory for transporting horses across state lines. Our USDA-certified veterinarians are authorized to issue these certificates after a comprehensive examination, certifying that your horse is free from contagious diseases and fit for travel.

A valid certificate of veterinary inspection issued by a USDA-certified veterinarian also makes it possible for you to travel freely and legally within the state. It creates a valuable paper trail that documents and verifies your horse’s health and veterinary history. This documentation is crucial when it comes time to sell, relocate, or show your horses, providing potential buyers, new facilities, or event organizers with proof of your animals’ well-being and medical background.

Tailored Travel Advice

Arizona’s unique climate and terrain can present challenges when traveling with horses. Our team provides tailored advice on how to prepare for these conditions, including tips on hydration, nutrition, and safe transport practices. We’re here to help you plan a smooth and stress-free journey.
